His love for music was inspired by his grandfather Jack Vermeer who was a pioneer in the Canadian music industry, having worked for "Quality records" in 60's, then going on to run a number of record stores throughout the city, and even a record pressing plant, all of which Derek was around while he was growing up. Discovering house music at age 13, Derek was on his way to beginning his Dj career a couple of years later. His career began with a residency at "The Red Lounge" with long time friend Keith Young, lasting two years strong. Along with the occaisional stint at <b> "Mixed Signals Music" boss Andy Roberts legendary “Hard and Soul” weekly Sunday Night at The Living Room" , he also was rocking crowds of 3000+ as a resident DJ at the "Effective" raves on a monthly basis. Evolving towards production in 2000,<b> Derek Codlin focused on honing his skills which eventually led to the release of Nina’s Moan , with additional production from Andy Roberts, as a white label on VinylCraft Services in 2006. "Nina's Moan was number one at the mecca of house music "Dance Tracks" out of New York for two weeks straight.
Recently he has teamed up again with Andy Roberts under his production alias "ARDC, for upcoming remixes on Mixed Signals Music as well as ROy Davis Jr's legendary "Watch Them Come" .
